My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

Thriving Instead of Disease Free:

Disease is always changing, the more we learn the more our understanding of how to treat the problem changes. What is good today might be wrong tomorrow. How can we solve a problem when the answer is always changing?

What it means to thrive expands but doesn’t change. The more we learn about a life of prosperity, flourishing, and limitless options the bigger the picture becomes but even as the picture grows that doesn’t change the wonderful life we already have.

If I asked you to define a disease could you do it? I bet you can! Could you tell me what to do to make my disease better or worse? Absolutely!

What if I asked you to define a state of thriving? Could you give me an example? How about a detailed plan of how to get there? Probably not, in-fact most of my clients can’t answer even the first part of this question the first time I ask it. We need a blueprint, a map, a guide to get there. Luckily we have one!

Traditional Chinese Medicine: A Blueprint to a Life of Thriving.

The 1st question was “If everything was perfect what would that look like?”

The 2nd question was “If a person is suffering what is he/she missing that should be there?” AND/OR “If a person is suffering what is stuck that should be moving?”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine there are 3 main aspects to finding and maintaining a state of thriving in life. We call these the “Three Treasures” and they are similar to the idea of “mind and body” that has become so popular in alternative medicine.

The Three Treasures:

These three treasures make up the entirety of what Chinese Medicine understands to be the human experience. When all three of these treasures are balanced and full we live a life full of thriving and limitless potential.

You are strong, capable, and full of vigor. You are quick-witted, intelligent, and emotionally joyful and grounded. You are free of disease with boundless energy to pursue your passions.

Mind or “Spirit”:

This is the most individual part of our existence.

We are not referring to a religious belief or an understanding of the afterlife, rather the “spirit” consists of the cognitive aspects of the brain such as memory, perception, and integration of your five senses.  In addition, “spirit” also includes our thought life, emotional balance, personality, and all of the wonderful parts that make us experience individuality.

Body or “Qi”:

This is the driving force behind any physical or mental activity. Without energy we could not function, we would be essentially an empty husk.  Energy comes in many different forms and makes up what we would think of in the west as all of our hormones, chemicals, blood; All of the parts you can take out of a human being and measure.

Abundance or “Essence”:

This is our deepest level of physical material. It is what allows us 2 challenge and push ourselves. It is essentially the reserve of energy that we pull from when our lives or our bodies require us to use more energy then we created that day.

Things like hard physical activity, drinking coffee, and overwork all pull energy from this essential reserve.

When this reserve begins to run dry it plays a tremendous role in our immune system, autoimmune disorders, chronic fatigue, sexual health and performance, and mental and emotional well-being.

How do I use this to heal and eliminate my symptoms?

We will be exploring your “disease” and your symptoms from the perspective of thriving in these 3 areas. Hear from others facing the same challenges as you are, get suggestions from experts in their field, and explore health from a brand new perspective.
