Tiredness/Chronic Fatigue and Deficiency

“It isn’t about the words you say. It’s about the energetic message you send.”

What Is Most Helpful For You (Specific):

And…now we return to our categories! Which one(s) most feel like you? (Trust your gut)

  • Qi Deficiency?
  • Blood Deficiency?
  • Yang Deficiency?
  • Yin Deficiency?

Specifics for Qi Deficiency:
  • Eat building foods. Particularly helpful are:
    • Simple grains such as wheat and rice (make sure it’s good quality!)
    • Small amounts of naturally sweet things such as honey and dates are great!
    • Be careful not to overeat. Qi is necessary for good digestion and your running low on it. Try stopping at 70-80% full (yes even with tacos!)
    • There are some great herbal teas such as ginseng and astragalus. Try drinking them while your preparing your meals.

SPECIFICS FOR blood DEFICIENCY:
  • Many of the foods for Qi deficiency are really helpful. ALSO if you are open to animal foods try to get some red meat in your diet.
  • Blood “re-energizes” when we lay down and close our eyes. Try and take a 10-15 minute break a few times a day (it’s best to be flat or legs up the wall and NO PHONE other than music, get those eyes closed)
  • If you have a menstrual cycle…
    • These suggestions are MOST important the week or 2 afterwards
    • Try after your cycle to reduce your physical and mental exercise for the first week if possible.

SPECIFICS FOR yang DEFICIENCY:
  • Make sure to get lots of warm and cooked foods. Try out some stews, soups, and casseroles and take it easy on raw foods. Find a balance that works for you but lean towards “winter” food rather than “summer” food.
  • Try your best to stay warm. I found it really helpful for a while to wear a loose scarf even indoors and a winter cap during the fall or in the evenings. Dressing in layers is surprisingly helpful.
    • Remember that the point here is not to feel warm but rather to rely less on your body to keep you warm.
    • It takes a surprisingly large amount of energy to keep you warm even in warmer environments. Let your clothes help with this job!

SPECIFICS FOR yin DEFICIENCY:
  • Seafoods (especially those with a lot of water in them such as shrimp or crab) are EXCELLENT
  • Melons and berries can become your new best friends (especially melons!)
  • If you feel thirsty or have a dry mouth remember that it’s more about your electrolytes than water itself so try squeezing some fresh juice into your water

Wishing you a life of unparalleled joy and acceptance!

David
