“What is Freedom if not Love in motion?”
Me đ
Letting Go Of Judgement:
Now at this point you might be thinking “I should want…” and lets go ahead and stop that train right there. đ
Humans are hardwired to pursue happiness, it’s in our DNA. Just as importantly the “Organs of the Mind” need to be exercised, strengthened, and allowed to rest just like every other organ in your body.
Feeling like today is the time to “be happy” and avoid unpleasant experiences as much as possible makes just as much sense as feeling like today is a good time to rest and eat good food. Feeling like you “should” be trying to heal the Mind (and be happy if it’s available) instead of being happy and giving the whole “healing thing” a break is about as ridiculous as feeling like you “should” be working instead of enjoying time with your family.
Tying This All Together:
Healing the Mind is not the same thing as developing a positive attitude or even necessarily being happy.
Our bodies are hardwired to be happy so healing the Mind for many people leads to increased happiness but this is not the goal of the practices of emotional digestion, de-storying, or awareness cultivation.
These practices are instead designed to heal the Mind which leads to better health and an increased feeling of “aliveness” in life.
You can absolutely pursue increased happiness as a goal in itself and in-fact I encourage it. The important point is to know which goal you are pursuing today and take action accordingly.
The “Organs of the Mind” need to rest just like any other organ so enjoy your downtime and let go of any judgement that you should be “challenging yourself” all the time if you want to heal. Enjoying the fruits of your hard work and giving yourself some breathing room and self love when you need it is just as important to healing as anything else.
