“Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside.”

Mark Twain

What’s Left Over, Balancing Building with Detoxing:

One of the other great ways you can balance your diet is based on the “biproduct” left over after it is digested. This was reviewed on page 1, in short we are looking at the “waste product” after digestion. Everything you eat has some type of toxin that is created as a bi-product of the normal digestive process and when you eat too much of a certain type of food overtime your body accumulates a lot of extra toxins.

Since everything you eat creates a “waste product” I strongly encourage you to notice extremes in your diet rather than become obsessive about what type of toxin you are adding to your body. Thoughts such as “I need to have a balanced lunch with some hot food, some cold food, and some neutral food” really misses the point here and leads to stress and anxiety. Thoughts that are beneficial would instead be “Wow, I eat A LOT in that category. I could really help my body thrive if I open up my diet to a few other options.”

Note here that different types of food do balance each other out, for example Hot food actually eliminates Cold toxins from your body and visa versa. Food combining is very complex so I bring this up only to make the point that ALL food is good for you at the right time. Some people who read this section find themselves thinking things like “it seems like no matter what I eat I am adding toxins to my body” and this statement is just simply not accurate. Focus on the simple concepts and do not overthink this.

  • Foods that add Damp toxins to the body
    • Dairy (less so if it is raw)
    • Simple sugars such as candy and sweet drinks
    • Fast food or “junk” food in general
    • Excessive amounts of meat (it is best to think of meat as a part of a meal rather than the focal point of it)
    • Excessive amounts of breads and pastas (rice pasta is often an exception here)
    • Beer
  • Foods that really help to eliminate Damp toxins in the body
    • Fermented foods such as probiotics
    • Green tea
    • Specifics can be found in your relevant “Pick Your Struggle”

  • Foods that add Heat toxins to the body
    • Alcohol
    • Coffee
    • Smoking (any type)
    • Excessive amounts of meat (it is best to think of meat as a part of a meal rather than the focal point of it)
    • Too many spices, especially those that are actually spicy
  • Foods that really help to eliminate Heat toxins from the body
    • Fresh pressed green juices such as cucumber and celery
    • Bitter teas like dandelion
    • Specifics can be found in your relevant “Pick Your Struggle”

  • Foods that add Cold toxins to the body
    • Any food that is cold in temperature or raw (salads, fresh juices, etc)
    • Excessive amounts of seafood (it is best to think of it as a part of a meal rather than the focal point of it)
  • Foods that really help to eliminate Cold toxins from the body
    • Small amounts of red meat
    • Small amounts of alcohol such as wine
    • Spices. This is one of the best and easiest, it could be done by adding more seasonings such as rosemary and thyme to your normal meals or by adding spicy things to your meals such as peppers or chilis.

Common signs and symptoms that you might see if you have too much of any of these toxins in your body can be found on the “Phases of Body” page.
